Saudi Arabia will participate in the Miss Universe beauty pageant for the first time this year.
The 27-year-old model and content creator, Rumy Alqahtani will represent the conservative Islamic country at the competition.
She has also participated in other global pageants, including Miss and Mrs Global Asian in Malaysia in February.
She posted on Instagram, “I am happy to be in Miss Universe 2024. This is Saudi Arabia’s first time.”

The pageant took place in Mexico. Sheynnis Palacios won Miss Universe 2023, the first win for Nicaragua.
The Miss Universe pageant last year featured two transgender women and plus-size model Jane Dipika from Nepal, marking the first time a plus-sized contestant reached the semi-finals.
