The rainy season of 2024 came a little harder than the regular in Lagos State.
Areas on the Lagos island, like Lekki, and on the Lagos mainland, like Iyana-Oworo, are heavily flooded, leaving residents and commuters trapped on the highway.
The flooding has affected the livelihoods of many, as some cannot go about their daily business and transportation is now more expensive.
However, amidst the many challenges this season presents, there are business opportunities some people are seeing and taking advantage of to make extra income for themselves.

1. Carts/Trucks/Carriage Services
In some flooded streets, people dressed for work may not want to dip their feet or outfits into the muddy water while crossing to the other end of the street or road.
To solve this problem, some individuals have devised a means of carrying people on their backs or inside carts or trucks for a fee to cross to the other end of the road or street.
2. Raincoats/Rainboots
Even in the rainy season, people who need to go about their daily activities outside will need clothing to protect them from getting cold and drenched.
This is where the sales of raincoats and boots will come in handy. With social media marketing, there is no limit to the profit you can make with the sales of these items.
3. Umbrella
An umbrella is almost a necessity for everyone in the rainy season. There are different kinds and sizes of umbrellas you can sell.
From the family size to the portable size anyone can carry about in their handbags, this is a business idea you can explore.
4. Street Foods
Street foods like hot tea with bread and egg, hot noodles and egg, and much more are always in high demand during the rainy season.
However, you may not necessarily need to have a food stand outside on the streets before you can sell these foods.
You can adopt social media ads and packages for sales for customers around your area within a specific time frame, especially during mornings and evenings.
5. Delivery Services
As a result of the transportation limitations caused by the rainy season, people may not be able to move around to do business or transport items as usual.
If you can build a delivery business model around this challenge, even if you charge higher, people will gladly pay for the comfort and ease of business you will bring to them.
