The flood rendered the road almost uncommutable, which caused gridlock and discomfort for commuters.

IbrandTV shared a video of the flooded area on its Instagram page with the caption, “Lagos, where the streets are rivers, and the bridges are islands! Iyana oworo under the bridge, a scenic view?”

Although it is not a new occurrence of flooding in some areas of Lagos during the rainy season, especially in places close to Lagos Island, an X user, @tokunbo_wahab, shared reasons why it is so in a series of tweets.

“The Olopo Meji inward third Mainland situation is a flash flood that is due to the high intensity of the rain and the long duration of the of the rain coupled with the high tidal lagoon level at the moment.

However, you can be rest assured that it will go away in about 1–2 hours.
