A former director of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Dr. Titus Okunrounmu has urged the federal government to provide more jobs to the youths this year.

Unemployment Increases Insecurity

He said more jobs for the youths will reduce the security challenges in the country.

Okunrounmu in Ota, Ogun State, said that insecurity and unemployment are two sides of the same coin.

According to him, an increase in unemployment would automatically lead to a rise in insecurity.

Okunrounmu said kidnapping, banditry, and herdsmen/farmers crises, among others, were caused by the unemployment situation in the country.

 Agriculture Can Get Us Out Of This Mess

“There is the need for the Federal Government to do the needful for the economy to grow and embrace good governance in 2024,” he said.

He urged the government to leverage agriculture and employ the teeming youths to prevent them from engaging in social vices.
