NCAA Guarantees Smooth Holiday Travel With Boosted Airline Capacity

As the festive season approaches, the NCAA has assured travellers of smooth air travel, announcing fleet expansions by airlines like Air Peace, United Nigeria, Ibom Air, and ValueJet.

A nationwide campaign is also educating passengers and airlines on their rights and responsibilities to ensure fewer disruptions during the holiday rush.

As the festive season approaches, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is working to ensure travellers have a smooth journey.

NCAA Ensures Smooth Holiday Travel With Fleet Expansion

During an awareness campaign at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja, Chris Najomo, the Director General of the NCAA, revealed that several airlines, including Air Peace, United Nigeria, Ibom Air, and ValueJet, have expanded their fleets to accommodate the expected rise in passenger numbers.

“Air Peace has added four or five planes, United Nigeria three, Ibom Air two, and ValueJet another two,” Najomo explained.

He added that, with this increased capacity, travellers should not face significant delays this season.

In addition, the NCAA has launched a nationwide campaign to educate passengers about their rights and responsibilities.

Najomo emphasised that passengers must arrive at least two hours before departure.

If a flight is delayed for more than two hours, airlines must offer refreshments to passengers, and after three hours, they must issue a refund.

Director of Consumer Protection at the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, praised Najomo’s leadership in improving the department’s effectiveness.

He said that the NCAA is committed to enforcing aviation regulations and supporting both passengers and airlines.

Achimugu also encouraged passengers to familiarise themselves with aviation rules to avoid conflicts.

He assured them that the NCAA will mediate disputes and ensure fairness, emphasising that both parties must uphold their responsibilities for a smoother travel experience.

With these measures in place, the NCAA is ready for a seamless holiday travel season.
