In a recent update, some Nigerians were sighted on Thursday morning holding morning devotion at an ATM while in queues waiting for their turns for withdrawal.

The introduction of the new naira notes and the deadline imposed on the use of the old notes and the rush for the new notes triggered a scarcity of the new currency in banks.

This has caused long queues of people waiting to make withdrawals.

Reports have also emerged accusing banks of hiding the new naira notes. Some commercial banks have reportedly been indicted by officials of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), EFCC and ICPC.
