The England striker is set to finally agree a new bumper contract with United, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Rashford’s current deal expires in June 2024 and he has been in negotiations with the Red Devils since the start of the year.

Romano claims that Rashford is prepared to accept United’s most recent offer, and that only a few elements still need to be worked out before the contract is formally revealed.

As the Red Devils finished third in the Premier League to return to the Champions League, broke a six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup, and advanced to the FA Cup final, Rashford enjoyed his finest season ever for United, scoring 30 goals across all competitions.

When he signs his new contract, Rashford will overtake Wayne Rooney as the highest-paid player at United.

The striker’s reported weekly wage is now £200,000, but that figure is expected to increase to £375,000 in the near future.

De Gea currently earns £375,000 at United, but his contract expires at the end of June, and he will only be given a new one on less favourable terms.

But after a challenging season, it seems more and more likely that the Spaniard will be departing the team after 12 years.
