Marcus Rashford

It’s Marcus Rashford’s world right now, and football fans around the world are just living in it.

There might be better overall players on the planet than the Manchester United star, but few – if any – are playing as consistently well as him right now.

Rashford has now scored 16 goals in all competitions since the World Cup after netting twice in United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday.

The England international twice latched onto through-balls before finishing with aplomb as his goals either side of half-time set United on their way to another three points at home.

They have played a game more than the Gunners, and are not back in league action for another fortnight now due to cup commitments, but a strong end to the season should mean they remain on the fringes of the title race throughout the run-in.

Is there a more unstoppable player in world football right now?

Yes, Kylian Mbappe is probably the best player on the planet, and Lionel Messi the best most have ever seen, but they are not performing at the consistent level of Rashford right now.

That is now 16 goals since the World Cup after Rashford’s double on Sunday, and he is proving that no matter where he is asked to play, he will continue to contribute goals.

Like against Barcelona in midweek, he started this one through the middle, and he timed his run perfectly to latch onto Bruno Fernandes’ through-ball for the opening goal.
