Real Madrid have mourned the passing of Basketball legend, Kobe Bryant.

Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna, died in a helicopter crash on Sunday in Calabasas, California.

All other persons on board were killed and the cause of crash is under investigation.

KB is survived by his wife Vanessa, and their three daughters – Natalia and Bianca and their newborn Capri.

He won five NBA championships and the 2008 MVP Award with the Los Angeles Lakers.

In reaction, Real Madrid in a statement on their official website said: “Real Madrid C. F. is deeply saddened by the death of Kobe Bryant, a legend of basketball and world-wide sport.

“The club wishes to convey its condolences to his family and friends for this loss which has shocked the world of sport.”

Also reacting, Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba wrote on his official Twitter page, @didierdrogba, “It hurts so bad my thoughts and condolences to your family @kobebryant.

“Thank you for all the advice and stories we shared, Man you are a true Champion and a great Man. May you and your lovely daughter rest in Heaven #blackmamba #kobe.”

On his part, Barcelona legend, Ronaldinho wrote on his official Twitter page, @10Ronaldinho, “Rest in peace, my friend.”

Barcelona, in a statement on their official website, said: “The news has come as a huge shock to everyone connected to FC Barcelona. Bryant, one of the greatest players ever to grace the game of basketball, was deeply admired by all, but the player was also an admirer of the football team. He was a frequent visitor to the club when in Europe or when the football team was on tour in the US.”
