One of the problems Nigeria is facing right now is misinformation.
Fake news tends to travel faster hence many unprofessional bloggers engage in this act to milk impressions and engagements, not minding the aftermath.
Misinforming the public is as good as misleading them, in fact, it can cause serious unrest.
This was exactly what played out when rumours began spreading that Nollywood actor, Zack Orji was dead.
The fact that Zack Orji had put his name in the bad books of many Nigerians after standing firmly behind President Tinubu, the then APC presidential candidate, during the last election, did not stop Nigerians from mourning him.
Good Old Memories
At least, if not for anything, for the good old memories which he had created.
Soon after this news emerged, the entire social media broke into mourning.
But is Zack Orji really dead?
It was the president of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas, who came out to debunk this news.
In a post via his Instagram page on Tuesday morning, Rollas said the movie star was alive and urged mischief makers to stop circulating fake news.

He wrote: “Mr Zack Orji is alive. Please ignore mischief makers who enjoy circulating fake news.

“This is to show how wicked some people can be. It is totally unacceptable.
“He will not die but live to declare the good works of God in Jesus’ name.”
Zack Orji underwent brain surgery in January 2024.
