Nigerian forward, Victor Osimhen, has apologised to Italian side, Napoli, after breaching COVID-19 protocols.
The player had tested positive for the virus after returning to the club from Nigeria where he went to celebrate his 22nd birthday back in December 2020.
The club imposed a two-week wages fine for his actions.
Osimhen has however, taken to social media to apologise to the club and fans for putting himself and teammates at harm’s way.
“I am so sorry for what happened, I was wrong to go to Nigeria in this moment, even if I have many loved ones over there, including my brothers,”Osimhen wrote on Instagram.
“I was wrong to take part in the party, I didn’t understand the severity of what I was doing. I apologise to the club, the coach, the team and the fans.”
