How To Identify Scam Calls From Fraudsters

Many unsuspecting individuals have been victims of scam calls from fraudsters.

They have lost their hard-earned money in their bank accounts to fraudsters who call them claiming to be bank representatives.

It is surprising that even up until now, people are still falling victim to these fraudsters acts.

This is not to say your bank or network provider cannot call you on the phone randomly, but you should know you are speaking with a fraudster if they:

Inform You That You Have Won A Lottery Or A Giveaway

Whenever you get a call from someone telling you that you just won a cash prize and you need to redeem it for a certain amount, you should beware.

Check verified social media handles and websites for announcements on promos, cash prizes, etc. and the procedures to win or redeem them.

Ask You To Send A 6-digit OTP Or Click On A Link

If they call and ask you to check your phone for a 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) code or click on a link immediately, you should know that you are about to get scammed.

No bank customer care representative will ask you to send a code over the phone.

You will be required to visit them at the banking hall instead.

The OTP code can be used to empty your bank account if you send it to them, as they will automatically gain access to your bank account.

Speak Inaudibly

Customer-care representatives are usually well trained to speak well to their customers. They don’t talk shabbily or stutter. Also, they do not speak terrible English.

They always have their facts without the need to ask you unnecessary questions like, “Are you using XYZ bank?” or “Did you apply for our ATM?”

Sound Desperate

Fraudsters usually sound cool at the beginning of the conversation, but with time, they become very impatient and desperate.

They resort to insults when you don’t comply with their demands.

Whenever you sense desperation in their tone, you already know who they are.

Scam attempts can come in different forms, and you have to be very careful not to let fraudsters play a fast one on you.

Always ask questions and check the internet for solutions, or visit the bank if you need help.
