Antoine Griezmann has refuted claims he is considering his international future due to annoyance at Kylian Mbappe being named France captain ahead of him.
The 32-year-old’s camp have said none of the speculation surrounding the Atletico Madrid star is rooted in truth.
While Griezmann would have loved to captain his country, he has long illustrated he does not need the armband to be a leader.
He has a great relationship with Mbappe, and as his deputy, has offered him full support.
The pair have already had positive discussions at Clairefontaine.
Didier Deschamps knows he can count on Griezmann to continue being a standout, selfless player for the national team, describing him as a “key pillar” and “motor” of the side.

Mbappe was named France captain on Monday March 20, 2023 taking over the role from Hugo Lloris who retired from international football after the 2022 World Cup.
Griezmann, who has 117 caps for Les Bleus, was one of the players of that tournament in Qatar and has been sensational in La Liga this season.
