Refrigerator and Air-conditioners Dealers Association, RADA, has lamented to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the need for urgent intervention on Lawanson road, Surulere.

The association call is coming against the backdrop of the recent downpour on its premises, damaging and destroying goods and office equipment amounting into millions of naira.

But in a statement made available to iBrandTV, titled: “The Need for urgent intervention on Lawanson road, Surulele flood disaster”,  the President, RADA, Comrade Obinna Obichukwu, solicited for some relief materials of food items, among other things, to help cushion the effects of hunger and starvation

According to him, “We the people, residents and traders on the street of Lawanson road, Surulele, Lagos State woke up on a beautiful morning after a heavy downpour in the night to see our premises and compound submerged by flood.

“Our properties and business wears are not left out either as the flood entered our homes and business offices, damaged and destroyed our goods and office equipment amounting into millions of naira.

“Your Excellency, we wish to state categorically, especially we the traders that this incident has left us stranded with no hope and means of livelihood for the past two weeks now and still counting, as we can’t access our business outlets and office, thereby leaving us at the mercy of our own fate.

“We, therefore cry out and plead that you use your good office to direct the relevant agencies and authorities, especially the office of State Flood and Disaster Management to come to our aid and save us from this hardship occasioned by the flood.

“We solicit that a good drainage system should be constructed in the area and the waterways cleared properly to enable the flood naturally flow to her direction.

“We equally solicit and request for some relief materials of food items, among other things, to help cushion the effects of hunger and starvation that we are facing at the moment, as we can’t go out or come in nor can we buy nor sell, and this has made life unbearable for us, our families and loved ones.”
