Adedotun Clement is about to become one of those that the #EndSARS protest blessed. he will soon receive from the government, ₦5 million compensation.
On Saturday, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, finally harkened to the cries of Nigerians, as he ordered the payment to the young Uber driver.
Clement was assaulted on October 20, 2021, during a rally to mark the one-year anniversary of the #EndSARS protest in the state.
The Compensation Meeting
According to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the Attorney-General will set up a meeting with Clement.
He will pay him the compensation awarded by the court.
This is coming after the intervention of the court. The court ordered Sanwo-Olu to compensate Clement for the attack.
The Lagos State Governor on Saturday said he was committed to upholding the rule of law.
The governor in a statement on his verified Twitter page said: “Good evening Lagos, as governor, I’m committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting citizens’ rights with empathy and authority.
“I recently became aware of the case involving Mr Clement Adedotun and the judgement by the Federal High Court.
“I understand the impact this legal battle has had on him.
Public Interest
“After reviewing Mr Clement’s case, I’ve directed the Honorable Attorney General to set up a meeting and pay him the compensation awarded by the court”.
According to the governor, although the state government had appealed the ruling, he had to consider public good.
“I’ve interceded in this instance in the interest of the public good.

“I requested that the state’s Attorney General comply with the court’s ruling.”
Also, Sanwo-Olu, ‘as a strong advocate for the rule of law’, commended all parties for seeking justice through the appropriate channels.

According to him, he remaines committed to upholding the rights of all Lagosians.
