You may be wondering why the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could not transmit results of the February 25 elections electronically.

Well, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Ekene Enefe, believes he knows why.

Hackers From Israel And Russia

In what you could call a partisan statement, Enefe says some political parties had hackers on ground.

They brought in hackers from Israel and Russia. The aim was to manipulate the election result, he says.

The APC member made the claims while speaking on Arise Television’s The Morning Show on Friday.

According to Enefe, the perpetrators realised they were losing and decided to bring in hackers to forcefully claim victory.

Perpetrators were unsuccessful and the electoral body decided not to transmit the results, he claims.

Enefe said: “Each party has a situation room, they have known the results.

“They knew they were losing and they wanted to cling to something and what they wanted to cling on is the transmission of the results to the portal.

“But people do not know how many times the Independent National Electoral Commission server was hacked and attacked.

“And this was done by political parties that brought in Russian and Israeli hackers to hack into the INEC server and to transmit the end result and create chaos.

“None of them succeeded and that is why the election, to the best of my knowledge, wasn’t transmitted on the INEC server”.

Enefe’s claim is coming few days after agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP) and some other political parties walked out of the National Collation Centre during the collation of the presidential election results at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, demanding the suspension of collation.

But INEC had promised Nigerians that the security of the system was optimum.

The electoral body assured Nigerians that it would be difficult for hackers to walk in.
