Sheeran was accused of copying the “heart” of Gaye’s classic hit Let’s Get It On for his own chart-topping hit, Thinking Out Loud.

After the jury ruled in his favor, Sheeran hugged his team and expressed his joy and relief outside a Manhattan court.

He said it was “devastating” to be accused of stealing someone else’s song and that he was “very happy” with the outcome.

He also emphasized the importance of creative freedom for songwriters, saying that had the verdict gone the other way, it could have been a major blow to their rights.

This is not the first time Ed has faced copyright allegations. In April 2022, he won a similar case in London over his smash hit Shape of You.
