Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed shock over the killing of Barrister Bolanle Raheem by a police officer.

The governor in a post via his social media page on Monday said he receives the news of her death with “utter shock and sadness”.

iBrandtv reported that the lawyer has been returning from church with her family on Christmas day when she was shot by a police officer at Ajiwe.

She was rushed to the hospital after the bullet struck her but she was confirmed dead at the hospital.

Sanwo-Olu promised that justice will be served and nothing will be spared under the laws of the state.

In his words, “ With utter shock and sadness, I received the news of the unfortunate and avoidable death of Barrister Bolanle Raheem at the hands of a police officer at Ajiwe.

“My condolence to her family, friends and associates. I can assure you that justice will be served.

“The Lagos State police command have arrested, disarmed and detailed the officer(s) involved in the incident.

“Nothing will be spared under the Laws of Lagos State until justice is served speedily and adequately.”

As of press time, the name of the officer is yet to be released and members of the public have been calling on the government to release his name to allow transparency in getting justice for Raheem.
