It is a proud moment for Mavin signee, Rema, as he gains his first entry into the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10.
He debuted with the “Calm Down” remix, in which he teamed up with American singer Selena Gomez.
The song surpassed Wizkid’s “Essence,” which peaked at number nine and was previously the highest-charting Nigerian song on the US chart.
The song has been a hit on social media, with many users adding the song to their shot videos, Reels and shorts.
Rema made his debut on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with the single, which entered at No. 74.
The original version of the song was released as the second single from his debut solo LP, Rave & Roses, in February 2022.
The remix with Gomez was released on August 26, 2022, and the official video for that version premiered on September 7.
