On Day 2 of the 2017 Nigerian World Championships/Commonwealth Games Trials in Benin-City, Edo State, former Making of Champions (MoC) athlete Favour Ashe defeated a star-studded field to win the men’s 100m final, becoming just the second man in history to run a sub-10s on Nigerian territory.

The University of Tennessee freshman ran 10.07 seconds to win his semifinal race earlier in the day, easily qualifying him for the championship. Ashe did not dissapoint as he surged to the first sub-10 of his career, outrunning Godson Brume (10.15s) and Alaba Akintola (10.06s), and winning the coveted title of Nigeria’s fastest man with a time of 9.99s.
