This was after his opponent at the Osun gubernatorial polls, Gboyega Oyetola challenged his victory.

Oyetola claimed there was over-voting in some polling units which led to Adeleke’s win.

Following this claim, the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo sacked Adeleke on January 27.

The tribunal said that there was believable evidence that over-voting occurred in some local government areas during the July 16, 2022 governorship election.

However, Adeleke refused to leave office and challenged the Tribunal’s ruling in court.

The appeal court ruled that the issue of over-voting upon which the lower court’s decision was made was unfounded and declared Adeleke the winner of the election.

Having held that Adeleke’s appeal was meritorious, the court awarded a cost of 500,000 Naira against Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court had earlier listened to all arguments by the parties on March 13, reserving the delivery of the judgment until today.
