On Wednesday, April 10, Nigerians received with great shock the rumoured news of the sudden death of Nollywood actor, Pope Obumneme Odonwodo populary known as Junior Pope.
This latest development, if true, would add to the growing numbers of Nollywood actors dying on regular basis.
Reports of his death has sparked concerns as Nigerians cannot help but wonder what is really going on in the country’s film industry.
Just recently, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu, who is loved by many, was confirmed death after battling health complications for a long time.
Many people are only familiar with Junior Pope via the screen with little or no idea about his background or even his profile.
About Junior Pope
He was born on May 7, 1984, in Bamenda, Cameroun to Mr. and Mrs. Luke Odonwodo.
Junior Pope is 39 years old.
He hails from Ukehe tribe of Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria.
But he grew up in Cameroun. He completed both his primary & secondary school education in Cameroun before relocating to Nigeria.
After his college he went further to University of Nigeria Nsukka Enugu State and graduated with a degree in Accountancy.
Acting Career
In 2006 he joined Nollywood and acted in many movies.
He always plays the role of guard and servant. In 2007 he rose to fame after acting in the blockbuster movie “Secret Adventures” directed by Tchidi Chikere.
According to him, it was the award winning movie director “Tchidi Chikere” that brought him to limelight.
He has acted in over 100 movies which include Secret Adventures, Mad sex, Bitter Generation, Vengeance of Bullet, etc.
In 2010 he won the award for Nollywood Most Promising Actor in Nigeria at the Entertainment Factory Awards.

On 26th July 2014 Junior Pope got married to Jennifer Awele Okpuno and the couples are blessed with beautiful kids.
He has won several movie awards such as most promising actor in Nigeria at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
