Following Wales’ World Cup qualification, Gareth Bale has appreciated a £4 million investment into grassroots soccer in the country.

The Football Association of Wales has confirmed that all anticipated profits from FIFA’s prize money would be put directly into facilities throughout the nation, meaning that the success of the World Cup will now trickle down to local level.

As the FAW supports the creation of motivational, functional facilities, Bale said: “We are happy that qualifying for the World Cup finals also means that grassroots clubs across Wales will benefit.”

Since being appointed 11 months ago, FAW chief executive Noel Mooney has frequently emphasized the need to upgrade regional facilities across Wales.

In May, the FAW announced the start of the first phase of its Grassroots Facilities Fund program, with construction beginning on 47 projects worth £3.2 million throughout Wales.
