Former boxing world champion Ricky Hatton has tragically passed away at the age of 46.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the former fighter’s body was discovered early Sunday morning at his home on Bowlacre Road, Hyde, Tameside.
Also, officers were called at 6:45 am and have stated there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
Hatton affectionately known as “The Hitman”, was one of Britain’s most celebrated boxers.
Over a glittering 15-year career, he secured 45 wins from 48 professional fights.
He clinches multiple world titles and thrilling fans with his relentless fighting style.
Among his most iconic victories were his triumphs over Kostya Tszyu and Jose Luis Castillo, which cemented his place in boxing history.
However, he also endured high-profile defeats, notably against legends Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
After officially retiring in 2012 following a loss to Vyacheslav Senchenko in Manchester, Hatton briefly returned to the ring in 2022 for an exhibition bout against Marco Antonio Barrera.
Most recently, in July 2025, Hatton announced ambitious plans for yet another comeback.
He was preparing for a scheduled middleweight clash against Eisa Al Dah in Dubai on December 2.
The fight was set as a professional contest, though uncertainty lingered over whether it would receive official sanction.
