Former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, has been handed a combined 75-year jail sentence by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court over a ₦33.8 billion fraud case.

The court, sitting in Abuja, found the former minister guilty on multiple counts linked to the diversion of funds tied to the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.

Justice Omotosho ruled that each prison term would run consecutively, bringing the total sentence to 75 years.

In addition to the lengthy sentence, the judge directed that the punishment would take effect immediately once Mamman is apprehended.

Security agencies across the country, including Interpol, were instructed to track down and arrest the former minister wherever he may be found.

The court also ordered that all funds and properties recovered from the convict be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

Furthermore, Mamman was directed to refund the outstanding balance from the ₦22 billion allocated for the Mambilla and Zungeru power projects.

The judgment marks one of the most significant corruption convictions involving a former public official in recent years.
