Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has weighed in on the long-standing debate around mediocrity in the music industry, insisting that there is no such thing as a “wack” artiste.

Speaking during a video broadcast, the African Queen crooner explained that music is created to evoke emotions and connect with specific audiences, not necessarily to please everyone.
According to him, acceptance in the industry is often determined by marketing, promotion, and business strategies rather than talent alone.
2Baba noted that many artistes often labeled as “wack” end up being more commercially successful than highly talented musicians because they understand how to properly market their craft.
He stressed that no matter how gifted an artiste is, it is impossible to make music that appeals to everyone.
2Baba added that true appreciation comes from listeners who naturally resonate with an artiste’s sound, emphasising that success in music goes beyond creativity to include strong promotion and business sense.
