Iconic singer Cher, 79, is reportedly preparing to marry her boyfriend, Alexander “AE” Edwards, 39, as she approaches her milestone 80th birthday in May, nearly five decades after the end of her second marriage.
An insider told the Mirror that Cher “doesn’t care about their 40-year age difference” and sees her upcoming birthday as the ideal moment to formalise their relationship.
However, her representative told Page Six that the report is “not true.”
Cher previously addressed criticism about the age gap during a November appearance on CBS Mornings, telling Gayle King, “Whatever… they’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us, but we just have a blast.”
She added that Edwards also considers their age difference irrelevant, saying, “You know, you get older, but your spirit is younger.”
The singer praised their three-year romance.
She noted they “laugh all the time,” describing Edwards as “beautiful” and “one of the most talented persons I’ve ever met.”
The couple was first linked in November 2022 in Los Angeles and went public on social media, with Cher firmly stating via X that critics’ opinions don’t matter, adding, “H@ters are gonna h@te… Doesn’t matter that we’re happy & not bothering anyone.”
The pair made their red carpet debut at the Versace Fall 2023 fashion show, sharing a PDA-filled entrance.
