Sanwo-Olu vs Jandor/Gbadebo
The Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has fixed Monday, September 25, to rule on the petitions against the declaration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the gubernatorial election.
The court will seat from 9 am on Monday.
The tribunal would deliver judgment of the petitions filed by Abdulazeez Olajide Adeniran of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Gbadebo Rhodes-Viviour of the Labour Party (LP) against Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Judgement Day
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour via a post on X disclosed that the election tribunal would deliver its judgment on Monday.
On April 11, Jandor and the Labour Party candidate separately asked the tribunal to nullify Sanwo-Olu’s re-election and declare them the winners.
The Petitions
Subsequently, on Wednesday, May 24, the tribunal dismissed the petitions filed by the Allied Peoples’ Movement and the Action Peoples Party.
Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes to defeat his closest rival, Rhodes-Vivour, who polled 312,329.
The candidate of the PDP, Adediran, came third with 62,449 votes while the candidate of APM, Funmilayo Kupoluyi, polled 884 and the candidate of APP, Abiola Adeyemi, garnered 259 votes.
