With just five days to the end of the 60-day constitutional window given to President Bola Tinubu, the Senate will this week review his ministerial nominees’ list.
The constitution of a cabinet is one of the things Nigerians are waiting for to know the direction Tinubu’s administration is headed.
The 1999 Constitution clearly stipulates that the President and governors must submit the names of persons nominated as ministers or commissioners within 60 days of taking the oath of office for confirmation by the Senate or the respective state Houses of Assembly.
Tinubu was sworn in as President on May 29 and he has to submit his ministerial list to the Senate before July 29 as mandated by law.
Nigerians are getting tired of waiting. But to calm nerves, Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Tope Ajayi, spoke on Sunday.
“Ministers’ List will be out this week. Let’s wait till the names are out.”
Nigerians Are Eager
The spokesperson for the Senate, Yemi Adaramodu (APC, Ekiti South), also hinted on what would happen this week.
According to him, the upper chamber has enough time to screen the ministerial nominees.
We will do that within the stipulated time, he says.
“I have reiterated severally and for the umpteenth time that there is still enough time to receive and screen the ministerial nominees.
“We know that Nigerians are eager to behold the executive team that will breathe oxygen into our economy and make life more abundant for us all.

“We are unarguably within the constitutional cover. The Senate shall surely do the needful and won’t disappoint Nigerians.”
Likely Names You Will Find In Tinubu’s Ministerial List
While Nigerians wait earnestly for the list, there are predictions that some of the names you will find in that lists are his cronies and political allies.
Here are are few names predicted:
Ex-Governor of Kaduna State: Nasir El-Rufai.
Minister of Works and Housing: Babatunde Fashola.
Ex-Governor of Rivers State: Nyesom Wike.
Former Managing Director: Bayo Ononuga.
Former Minister of Aviation; Culture and Tourism: Femi Fani-Kayode.
Festus Keyamo.
Ex-Governor of Kogi State: Yahaya Bello.
Ex-Governor of Cross River State: Ben Ayade.
