Actor Gideon Okeke has sparked conversation online after sharing a passionate video addressing what he described as an imbalance in support among Nigerian creatives, particularly between the music and film industries.

In the video, Gideon questioned why Nigerian musicians enjoy massive celebration, global promotion, and strong public backing, while Nollywood actors, actresses, and filmmakers rarely receive the same level of support from their counterparts in music.
He noted that while music stars proudly embrace titles such as the “big three” and “big five,” only a few of them openly recommend or promote Nigerian films, actors, or producers, even as platforms like Netflix continue to take Nollywood to international audiences.
Gideon also referenced how global figures, including former U.S. President Barack Obama, publicly share and promote music they enjoy.
He wondered what kind of impact it would have if Nigerian music stars showed similar public support for Nollywood, using their influence to uplift the film industry.
