Canada is preparing to tell its story, one household at a time, through the May 2026 Census.
To make this happen, Statistics Canada will hire 32,000 temporary workers across the country.

Canada Census Comes Alive
Pay reaches up to $31.32 per hour, depending on the role, and most work takes place in communities.
First, Enumerators will walk streets, knock on doors, and speak directly with residents to collect vital information.
They usually work 20–40 hours per week from May to July, often during evenings or on weekends.
Leading The Teams
Meanwhile, Crew Leaders will guide these teams, organise field activities, track progress, and complete administrative tasks.
These roles run from March to July, typically 40 hours a week, and earn up to $31.32 per hour.
Additionally, workers can apply for authorised travel expenses, including mileage and parking, when visiting assigned households.

Applicants must live in Canada, be adults, and either hold citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid work permit.
How To Apply
During the hiring process, Statistics Canada will screen candidates, check references, interview for supervisory roles, and complete security clearance.
Applications go online via the Census jobs portal from November 4, 2025 to July 31, 2026.
Because timelines vary by region, applicants improve their chances by submitting early and selecting preferred roles.
Finally, working on the census allows Canadians to explore communities, meet new people, and contribute meaningfully.
Overall, this flexible, temporary work gives employees a chance to experience Canada from the ground up.
