American rapper Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., popularly known as DDG, has dismissed what he described as misleading Western media narratives about Nigeria.
He insisted the country is far safer than often portrayed.

The hip-hop star is currently spending time in Lagos, said Nigeria is “nowhere near” as dangerous as the United States, contrary to popular belief abroad.
Also, he encouraged foreigners to visit the country and experience it firsthand rather than rely on negative propaganda.
Speaking in a video shared online, DDG argued that while Nigeria has its own security challenges, issues such as gun violence and gangsterism are far more prevalent in America.
“I honestly think America is the most dangerous country,” he said.
“I don’t think Nigeria is as dangerous as America — nowhere near. There is insecurity here, no doubt, but gun violence and gangsterism are not as common as they are in the US. So if you’re thinking about coming to Nigeria, pull up.”
The rapper also addressed stereotypes surrounding Nigerian food and hygiene.
According to him, he was warned before his trip that Nigerian food was unhealthy and that he should boil water before drinking it.
However, DDG said his experience proved otherwise.
