New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who is also known as rapper Cardi B’s baby daddy, is currently facing serious legal trouble.
This follows new criminal charges filed against him in Massachusetts.
According to court records, Diggs has been charged with felony strangulation or suffocation as well as misdemeanour assault and battery over an alleged incident
While specific details of the incident have not been made public, the case has drawn significant attention due to its timing and Diggs’ high-profile status.
The four-time Pro Bowl receiver is expected to be arraigned on January 23, just days before the AFC Championship.
During a virtual court appearance at the Dedham District Court, Diggs’ lawyer, Michael DiStefano, requested that the police report be sealed.
Also, he disclosed that Diggs has made a financial offer in an attempt to resolve the matter with the unnamed complainant.
Despite the charges, Diggs has categorically denied all allegations.
In a statement, the New England Patriots said the player has informed the organisation of his innocence and reaffirmed their support for him.
“Stefon has informed the organisation that he categorically denies the allegations. We support Stefon. We will continue to gather information and will cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities and the NFL,” the team stated.

The NFL has also confirmed awareness of the situation, noting that it is in contact with the Patriots as investigations continue.
