Osun State will build on three years of progress as Governor Ademola Adeleke signs the ₦723 billion 2026 budget.

The signing ceremony took place on Monday in Osogbo, where Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi and members of the state executive council joined the governor.
Achievements And Workers’ Welfare
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, the government designed the budget to strengthen governance, expand service delivery, and launch new projects across the state.
Governor Adeleke highlighted the administration’s achievements, noting that his team completed abandoned projects, cleared pension and salary arrears, and improved workers’ welfare.
“We have laid a solid foundation for sustainable development,” he emphasised.

Moreover, workers received promotions and allowances that the former government had neglected, which further boosted morale across the state.
The governor also pointed out that the outcomes of the last three budgets produced positive and transformative results.
Financial Management And Future Plans
Initially, the government proposed a ₦705 billion budget, but legislators revised it to ₦723 billion during review.
Subsequently, the Osun State House of Assembly approved it on December 23, signalling the government’s commitment to consolidate gains while preparing new initiatives before the end of Adeleke’s first term.
In addition, the administration prioritised financial management.
Between 2022 and 2025, Adeleke reduced Osun’s debt by 43% to ₦83.3 billion.
Earlier this year, he approved a ₦4 billion bond to pay retirees under the contributory pension scheme.
With the budget now law, Osun will continue its development, turning past achievements into a springboard for new projects across the state.
