Shola Ogudu Explains Why Champz Is Turning Down Show Invitations

Shola Ogudu, mother of Wizkid’s 14-year-old son Boluwatife, popularly known as Champz, has clarified why the fast-rising young artiste will not be accepting show invitations despite the massive success of his debut EP, Champion’s Arrival.

Taking to X, Ogudu expressed appreciation to promoters and organisers who have reached out with performance offers.

However, she explained that Champz’s age remains a major factor in their decision to decline live bookings for now, as the focus is firmly on his growth and long-term development.

According to her, nurturing his talent properly at this stage is more important than rushing into performances.

She added that the decision was made with his best interests in mind.

Meanwhile, Champion’s Arrival, released in November, has enjoyed an impressive run, topping charts across multiple countries and attracting widespread attention from music lovers.

Champz also celebrated the EP’s milestones.

She reveals that it crossed one million Spotify listeners, racked up millions of streams, and became a top album within hours of release.

Blending Afrobeats with UK grime influences, Champz’s sound has earned praise from fans and critics alike, with many describing him as one of the most promising young talents to watch.
