Fuji music legend, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as Kwam1 or K1 De Ultimate, has formally declared his intention to ascend the Awujale throne of Ijebuland.

The 68-year-old made this known in a letter addressed to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
In the letter, Kwam1 stated that his decision is in line with the provisions of the Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws and Ijebu customary law.
Tracing his lineage to the Jadiara line of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Agunsebi Quarters, the Fuji icon also highlighted his over 50 years of promoting Yoruba culture through music as part of his qualification.
“I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland,” the letter read in part.
Kwam1’s declaration comes a few months after the death of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who passed away in July 2025 at the age of 91 after a remarkable 64-year reign on the throne.
