Singer Reekado Banks has revealed that his decision to leave Mavin Records in 2018 was premature. The singer, who rose to fame after joining Mavin Records and winning the Rookie of the Year award at The Headies 2014, went on to bag the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015.

Despite the success, he parted ways with the label and launched his own imprint, Banks Music.
Speaking in a recent interview with reality star Teddy A on the Echoo Room, Banks said he realised the move was hasty when he began handling the business side of music alone.
He clarified that his exit was not caused by conflict but was simply a personal decision after his contract expired.
According to him, his original three-year contract had lapsed two years before he finally left.
“It wasn’t a conflict situation. I was young and fixated on what I wanted to do. I thought I could handle it on my own.”
“My contract had ended two years earlier and I allowed it to run for five years without renewal. When I finally decided to leave, I realised later that the move was premature,” he said.
