Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again stirred reactions online after boldly claiming that he has helped more people in the music industry than established stars such as Olamide, Don Jazzy, Wizkid and Davido.

The outspoken Zazu crooner made the assertion during a recent video broadcast.

He stated that his generosity goes beyond the entertainment industry and also extends to the less privileged in society.

According to Portable, unlike many celebrities whom he described as egoistic, he freely associates with ordinary people and consistently shows appreciation to fans who support him online.

Also, he stressed that he regularly reposts positive videos made about him, something he believes many top stars often ignore.

Many Nigerian celebrities don’t post their fans even if they dance to their songs or promote them. But I repost every positive video about me,” he said.

Portable further claimed that while some artistes make it difficult for upcoming musicians to collaborate with them—even when money is involved—he offers help without conditions.

He insisted that he has played a bigger role in supporting emerging talents than some of the industry’s biggest names.

“Even with money, many celebrities won’t allow you to feature them as an upcoming artist. But I help people freely. I have helped more people in the music industry than Don Jazzy, Olamide, Wizkid and Davido,” he declared.

The singer went on to redefine what he considers genuine help, explaining that true support goes beyond business transactions.

He said real assistance involves taking a homeless person off the streets, providing shelter, feeding them, clothing them, and sponsoring their first studio sessions.

Anything other than that is just business. A lot of the people claiming they are helping others in the music industry are simply doing business,” Portable added.

He also criticised what he described as a common trend where artistes brand those they once worked with as ungrateful once they decide to go independent.
