Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has disclosed that his hit song Cash App was created for internet fraudsters, commonly known as Yahoo boys.

In an interview with Clout Africa, Bella Shmurda explained that after realizing the challenges of internet fraud, he decided to release a song that acknowledges their struggles and uplifts them.
When asked about the inspiration behind Cash App, the host questioned, “Were you doing Yahoo?” Shmurda responded, “It is Yahoo in the sense that they [Yahoo boys] have to dance.
These people that are hustling, you have to make them happy.
Because internet fraud is stressful. It has a lot of challenges.
The truth is, when it comes to inspiration, you don’t have any story behind it.
It is natural, it just comes. It is God-given. So, Cash App is divine.”
Released in 2020 and featuring rappers Zlatan and Lincoln, Cash App quickly became a major hit in Nigeria and across Africa.
