The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has raised concerns about growing fraudulent business activity in Nigeria.
Recently, the CAC released a notice listing 15 companies using fake registration numbers.

Consequently, it urged the public to exercise extreme caution when engaging with these entities.
CAC Identifies Growing Corporate Fraud
This alert aims to protect investors, businesses, and ordinary Nigerians from falling victim to scams.
The CAC identified:
- Famas Services Nigeria Limited
- Promo Dutch Investment Limited
- Dialack Concept Nig. Ltd
- Purpleheart Construction and Real Estate Mgt. Co. Ltd
- M/S Loktu Enterprises
- Loktu Enterprises

- Johnson Nats Limited
- Peoples Club Nigeria International
- Jiba Enterprise
- Civil Engineering Solutions Nigeria Limited
- Gabdoff Hotel Ltd

Moreover, fake companies often deceive people using forged registration numbers, false invoices, and counterfeit documents.
Therefore, the CAC emphasised that Nigerians cannot legally protect transactions with these unregistered companies.

Steps To Protect Yourself
To stay safe, citizens should check company names and registration numbers online before conducting business.
Additionally, they should request incorporation documents for sensitive or high-value transactions to confirm legitimacy.
They must avoid making payments to companies that cannot verify their registration through official CAC channels.
Furthermore, the public should report suspicious companies directly to the CAC or law enforcement authorities.
Earlier, the CAC discovered 247 companies using false RC numbers and removed them from its database.
This enforcement follows the Commission’s delisting of companies failing to meet the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 requirements.
As a result, non-compliant companies lose corporate status, legal rights, and protections under Nigerian law.
Technology And Compliance
In June, the CAC launched an AI-driven portal to simplify company registration and accelerate approvals.
However, users experienced glitches, including payment issues and document submission delays, creating a backlog of 7,000 applications.
To address these problems, the CAC is deploying an AI agent to handle compliance, registry, and customer service efficiently.
Ultimately, verification remains crucial; Nigerians must confirm company credentials to avoid fraud and financial loss.
