Nigerian Afropop sensation Fave has shed light on why she decided to formally release the viral AI-generated version of Intentions.
This is a track originally performed by music duo Urban Chords.

The AI rendition circulated massively online, mimicked Fave’s vocals with such accuracy that many fans believed she had recorded the song.
Rather than dismissing the moment or seeking its removal, the singer chose to embrace the unexpected wave.
“Fans Already Connected With It” — Fave
Fave explained that the overwhelming fan reaction influenced her decision.
“People kept tagging me, saying the song felt like something I would sing,” she noted. “At first, I was surprised because it wasn’t me. But the more I listened, the more I understood why they loved it.”
The organic engagement made her rethink her stance on AI-generated music, particularly when it fuels genuine excitement.
“I saw how happy people were, and I didn’t want that excitement to fade. If fans already believed in the song, why not make it real?”
A Collaborative Decision With Urban Chords
Before moving forward, Fave discussed the plan with Urban Chords and her team to ensure transparency and respect.
“It was important to acknowledge the original creators,” she explained. “Urban Chords created something beautiful, and I wanted my contribution to feel like a partnership—not confusion.”
Fave emphasised that the release is part of a broader conversation about AI in African music.
“AI is here whether we like it or not,” she said. “If it’s going to use my voice, then I want to guide the narrative and make sure the art still has heart.”
