After months of soaring food costs, Nigerians felt relief in September 2025 as food inflation dropped to 16.87%.
The National Bureau of Statistics explained that bumper harvests of maize, grains, and staples eased pressure on households.

Food Inflation Eases
Data released on Wednesday showed food prices fell 1.57% month-on-month, as supply finally caught up with demand.
Consequently, headline inflation also eased, slipping to 18.02% from 20.12% in August.
The NBS highlighted that maize, grains, garri, beans, millet, potatoes, eggs, tomatoes, and peppers drove the decline.
