Actor and filmmaker, better known as Lala, has revealed that his ultimate ambition is to earn a doctorate through academic study rather than accept an honorary degree.
“I don’t want an honorary doctorate,” he declared.

“I’ve received several invitations for that, but I’m not interested. I want to study and earn the certificate as a PhD holder, not just carry the title.”
The actor already holds a master’s degree.
He explained that his passion for learning is fuelled by the same drive that has shaped his career in the movie industry.
Reflecting on his early life, Lala admitted that his childhood was far from easy.
“I was a tough child – even my parents prayed I wouldn’t be consumed by the streets because I could dare anything. Death was a normal thing to me because my orientation was that everyone would die eventually. But now that I have fame and a family, I avoid putting them into chaos.”
He also recalled a defining moment that reflected his resilience: “I once beat a thug in his own territory in Surulere, Lagos.
The story of my life is a long one, but it has shaped how I interpret roles in movies.”
Speaking on how his stage name came about, Lala revealed that it originated from a Funke Akindele production.

“The character started in one of her movies, where I played the role of Lala and people loved it. Later, I wrote and produced my own film, Agidi, and made sure my character also bore the name Lala, since it was already well established from Akindele’s movie.”
