Nigerian Afrobeats singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, was
attacked by a fan while performing at a concert in the Benin Republic on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
In a video circulating online, the Marlian Music boss was seen giving an energetic performance when an unidentified fan stormed the stage and grabbed him in an apparent act of aggression.
Security operatives quickly intervened, restraining the fan before he could cause harm and escorting him off the stage.
Despite the disruption, Naira Marley attempted to continue his performance, but technical issues with his microphone brought the show to a halt.

Reacting to the incident, the singer reposted the viral clip on his X handle with a playful caption:
“The moment I got attacked on stage 😂😂😂😂 see baba oninu re.”
The incident comes weeks after Naira Marley publicly addressed controversies surrounding the death of his former signee, Mohbad, who passed away in Lagos on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27.
In a recent YouTube video, the singer denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death or claims of bullying.
He alleged that Mohbad had been struggling with drug use, which affected his mental health, and criticised the police for detaining him for two months during investigations.
Naira Marley also stated that Mohbad’s royalties from their time at Marlian Music remain intact and accessible to his family.
