Tiwa Savage Opens Up On Struggles She Faced In The Music Industry

The award-winning singer revealed the challenges she continues to face in her career, particularly the doubts and criticism that surrounded the release of her latest album “This One is Personal.”

Tiwa Savage expressed frustration over comments from critics who dismissed her project because it did not feature international big names or contain the type of club bangers often associated with mainstream success.

Quoting her exact words, she said:

My Alpha and Omega, this industry is filled with so much darkness. I wish you guys knew so much, but I thank God that I’ve just kept my eyes on Him. I haven’t fallen. When I put out the tracklist, I saw so many people saying, ‘Ah, she doesn’t have this person, she’s not featuring that person, she doesn’t have big names from America.’ But I just need the right ones — and I have the right ones.”

The singer further explained that her album was over two years in the making.

Also, despite facing numerous hurdles, fights, and doubters, she remained committed to releasing music that reflects her truth and vulnerability.

She added:

People said, ‘This type of vulnerable record, nobody’s going to listen to it. Nobody cares. People just want to hear gbedu, they just want club records. This thing is not going to work.’ But here we are. It’s out. Jesus, it’s out. Thank you, God.”

Despite the obstacles, Tiwa Savage emphasised that her faith in God and the unwavering support of her team continue to give her strength.
