The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has officially refuted viral rumours circulating on social media alleging the death of its Managing Director and veteran actor, Ali Nuhu.
The speculation began after a Facebook user, Ifeoma Chigbo, posted a video suggesting that Nuhu had passed away, while expressing hope that the information was untrue.
Another post later surfaced, falsely claiming that the acclaimed filmmaker had died in a car accident.
In a statement released on Monday evening, Brian Etuk, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, condemned the reports as “false, malicious, and injurious”,
They affirms that Nuhu is “alive, well, and actively discharging his duties as Managing Director.”
The statement read:
“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director/Chief Executive, being orchestrated within the social media space. NFC wishes to officially and unambiguously inform the general public that the reports, including videos laced with the pictures of Dr. Ali Nuhu, are not only malicious and injurious but false in their entirety.”
It further emphasised that Ali Nuhu, who was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on February 12, 2024, remains in good health and continues to perform his official responsibilities.
The NFC also issued a stern warning to individuals propagating the rumours.
Also, they cautions that appropriate measures are being put in place to curb the spread of such misinformation.

The statement concluded by appreciating the genuine concerns shown by members of the public, industry stakeholders, and partners in the wake of the false news.
