Speaking passionately during her daughter Priscilla Ojo’s baby shower in Canada over the weekend, Iyabo addressed the importance of intentional parenting and the need to speak positive affirmations over one’s children.

The event was attended by close family and friends,

Iyabo stressed that mothers must be deliberate in rejecting the belief that the struggles, pain, and limitations of their own upbringing must continue through their children.

Instead, she urged women to stand firm in faith and use positive declarations to transform their family narratives.

“Sometimes you need to sacrifice so much for your children,” she said.

You have to remind yourself that every decision you make today—whether good or bad—should not become a burden your children are forced to carry. It’s our responsibility as mothers to shield them from that weight.

She explained that many families unknowingly pass down spiritual and emotional burdens through what she described as ancestral or generational curses

You can’t break a generational curse if you’re still leading it,” she warned.

To truly break it, you must be the one to stop it—through self-awareness, healing, and love. If you carry unresolved pain and struggles, and you extend that to your children, you deny them the blessings and joy they deserve.
