I took my phone, swiped up and turned it to airplane mode. I turned it on again and that would have resolved the issue I was having. My MTN line had become idle.

After all, it is one of the things their customer care personnel often recommend when you run into such challenge.

Alas, it was still there. A “No Service” sign stared at me.

I needed to do some work and earn some good electronic money. And yes, of course, there is no encouragement to do cash transactions in Nigeria at the moment.

But I had lost that opportunity because my MTN had killed that job without notice.

Is this my MTN or is this affecting everyone.

Some times, when I remove my sim card from my phone and slot it in again, the network often returns.

I grabbed a stapler removed a pin from it and pushed out my sim. I did the usual thing, even cleaned the sensitive part, but my MTN sim is not the problem.

It is Valentine’s Day for goodness sake.

It is not like MTN is not aware of this day, though.

In fact, earlier in the day, MTN had sent a love note to its competitor, Airtel Nigeria.

That message got the hearts of many Nigerians, as it proved that; “if you gain money and have no love, you have walked the road of misery”.

While some persons try to get connection, other Nigerians are praising MTN for laying aside competition and sharing a piece of their heart with Airtel.

But what caused the downtime?  Unfortunately, no one can tell. But we know that it started after MTN asked Nigerians to download its app. Could the downtime be related to this request?
