A former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtar Shagari, has highlighted a simple thing that President-elect, Bola Tinubu, needs to do to be successful in his first term in office.
Shagari was a guest on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today.
Expressing his opinion on the chances that Tinubu would do well in office, he expressed optimism that the former governor of Lagos State would achieve greatness as President of the nation if he surrounds himself with the right people.
Also, Shagari said that Tinubu’s success would be an easy one.
“It would be very easy if he has the right team.
“You will struggle to win any competition if you are talented and the captain of a football team, if you are the only one who is talented and good, and you lack forwards.
“However, if you have the right people, in fact, the right team and strikers will help you score goals.
“So, if Bola Ahmed Tinubu performs what he did in Lagos at the national level, that is, expand on what he achieved in Lagos to achieve success, he will be successful.

“Bring in people who know what they’re doing. People with integrity. Even the brightest person can fail if he lacks integrity.
“So, if he has the appropriate team and people around him, I believe he can still do what he did in Lagos, Nigeria.”
Be Wary Of Sycophants
However, he warned Tinubu, on the other hand, to prioritise security and be wary of sycophants.
“First and foremost, Tinubu must be wary of sycophants, people who will tell him stories, people who will tell him things they believe he will want to hear.
“Another is that he must take the issue of security seriously; people are still being killed and kidnapped, and he must then consider the economy.
“I am confident that he would be able to bring people who will assist him in building the economy,” he said.
