Veteran Nollywood actor and folk singer, Jimi Solanke, has passed away. The legendary poet and playwright died on Monday, February 4, 2024, at the age of 81.

He reportedly died while being rushed from his country home in Ipara Remo, Ogun State, to Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan. Solanke had been in and out of the hospital since December until his passing.

Honorable Dickson Awolaja, representing Remo North State Constituency at the state Assembly, confirmed Solanke’s death, expressing condolences and highlighting Solanke’s significant contributions to the community and the state.

Solanke, also known as “Uncle Jimi,” was well-known for his roles in productions like Kongi’s Harvest, Sango, Shadow Parties, and more. May his soul rest in peace.
